Medical Massage Therapy also includes muscle energy techniques “MET’S” and myofascial release.  MET's are used to help reset the muscles back to their normal position.  These techniques are known as Positional Muscle Release, Muscle Normalization, and Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) to name a few. “Myo” refers to the muscle and “fascia” the elastic web of connective tissue that spreads throughout the body and ties it together.  Muscles and fascia work together to support your body and facilitate movement.  

 

Myofascial Release is a hands on technique involving the application of stretches and pressure to the fascia and muscles.  It relieves tension and pain by releasing and lengthening the fascia, which allows muscles to return to their correct position.
